All My Feelings at This Time Are Connected to Some Major Tasks: Prime Minister Hun Manet Shares Personal Reflection on Social Media
Phnom Penh, July 28, 2025 — Prime Minister Hun Manet posted a heartfelt message on his social media today, expressing both relief and the ongoing burden of national responsibilities amid the recent ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.
In his post, he conveyed a sense of cautious optimism, stating, “Just want to say a joy with our Cambodian people to relax a little,” noting that “the front line has eased after the ceasefire since 12 o’clock last night, in the spirit of the agreement between Cambodia and Thailand at the special meeting in Malaysia yesterday.”
Humor erupted in his message as he shared that last night, one of his assistants commented on his appearance, saying he looked like he had aged five years in just five days due to his pale face and gray hairs. Another suggested he dye his hair to look younger. He replied lightheartedly, “My feelings right now are not with my hair color.”
Despite the lighter tone, the Prime Minister emphasized that his current emotional state is deeply connected to major national duties. “Monitoring the situation on the front line and supporting our forces fighting to protect the integrity of our territory,” he said, “are top priorities. I am also working to develop policies for the wounded and martyred soldiers, resolve the welfare issues of hundreds of thousands of veterans, and address the situation of workers returning from Thailand as refugees.”
He expressed that his key focus in the coming days is to find a solution to end the fighting as swiftly as possible, to save lives of both soldiers and civilians, and to allow displaced people, including refugees, to return home and rebuild their lives. “The sooner the fighting stops, the sooner we can reduce deaths and injuries,” he emphasized.
Acknowledging the physical toll, he admitted, “I look a little old because of my gray hair. And even though I look a bit older and feel weaker than I did ten years ago, my strength to face these challenges remains strong.”
He concluded his message with hope for the future, calling for patience and unity. “Let’s wait for all these problems to be resolved, for the army and the people to be happy, and for the country to regain peace. And let’s also wait for my hair to be dyed,” he added with a smile.
